Home Care Instructions

Your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may be slightly tender for several days as a result of manipulation during treatment.  The amount of infection around the tooth and its previous condition play a role in this as well.  This tenderness is normal and is no cause for alarm, but if you have swelling or significant discomfort, please call our office.  In the vast majority of cases, discomfort will be alleviated by taking ibuprofen (Advil), naproxyn (Aleve), aspirin, or acetominophen (Tylenol) as directed.  Please do not chew hard food on the affected side until your tooth is covered with a crown or protective restoration provided by your restorative general dentist. You may continue your regular dental hygiene regimen.

NOTE: Alcohol intake is not advised while taking any of these medications. Should you experience discomfort that cannot be controlled with the above listed medications, or should swelling develop, please contact this office.
